Castle Drogo Chapel - Dartmoor
Description
This Castle in Dartmoor National Park, designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and the last castle to be built in England, has leaked since it was built. An overlay system has been trialed to the Chapel roof as a precursor to future phases.
The works involved:
- Scaffold design and temporary roof to keep out the inclement Dartmoor climate!
- Stripping roof slabs and dismantling parapet walls.
- Installing Bauder overlay system including design of special cloaks and soakers.
- Dismantle and rebuild of the Bell Chamber.
- Removal, reengineering and reinstatement of windows.
- All incorporating Visitor access as property remained open throughout.
