
All Saints Church, Maidenhead
Description
Essential masonry and brick repairs from designed scaffold to 175’ church tower.
The works involved:
- Design and erection of scaffold and passenger hoists.
- Scheduling of stone repairs and replacement.
- Stone indents and full replacements.
- Replacements to red and black facing and decorative moulded bricks.
- Conservation repairs and localised repointing to the limestone.
- Design for replacement of stone displaced by corroding cramps and wrought iron straps.
- Removal of the weathervane for conservation works.
- Repairs to leaded lights.
- Cleaning of the spire.
- Pigeon protection.
The Building
The church which was completed in 1857 is a grade I listed church and is one of the finest examples of the work by G. E Street. Its construction is primarily red brick with decorative limestone and black brick banding and moulded brick louvre openings to the bell chamber. The tower is topped with a limestone broach spire with twelve dormer lights.
