Golden Cross Public House, Gloucester
Description
This partly Tudor oak framed structure needed intrusive heavy oak frame repairs. As Principal Contractor, St Blaise included reroofing twelve slopes in slate, replacement and refurbishment of sash windows and reconstruction of a timber modilioned cornice. The infill panels were recreated and lime rendered and the ground floor remodelled prior to reopening as a public house.
The works involved:
- Heavy oak carpentry repairs to original frame.
- Dismantling of gable roof structure.
- Reroofing in Welsh slate – new and reclaimed.
- Design and installation of decorative infill panels, finished in Keim paint.
- Strip out of pub services.
- Window refurbishment.
- Supply and fix two new masonry fireplaces.
